On The Move Again

Do you see the image above? Yea, well it’s starting to look like that around here too. Every day I see more boxes, some open, some taped shut and some just flat. They’re everywhere! Levon, Jasmine and I can’t even run around in our warm room upstairs because of the mess. It’s even worse up there. The packaging from Annette’s scented pillar candles are scattered all over the floor. Of course she tries to blame us for that. She thinks we pull them out of the boxes she puts up there. What does she know? She’s usually sleeping when it happens (insert sly grin here).

Anyway, we’ve been down this road before. It seems every time a bunch of boxes show up, we end up going down the road again. The last time we moved it was a few miles. I just know we’re moving again. Why do humans do this all the time? Can’t they just find a place and stay there? We’ve seen the house next door to us have three different sets of humans in it in the last six months! We’ve been watching the guy across the street leaving with truck loads of stuff like, furniture, tools, toys and wait for it……..BOXES!  He even moved lawn equipment and I haven’t heard his dog barking lately (whew). You know how I feel about dogs!

As you can see by my expression above I’m not too happy about it. In fact my two buddies and I plan on rebelling. I might go in our ‘master’s’ bedroom and yowl at three o’clock in the morning. I know we’ll chase each other around the house barely missing the pictures and knick knacks and stuff. We do that anyway. I’m sure we’ll attack the window blinds too. Annette really hates that one! Ha ha!

Now we’re used to seeing a few boxes around. Like Annettes’ Jewelry in Candle boxes. Have you heard of those? They’re scented candles that come with jewelry hidden inside. They smell great, even to us cats! And yea, each candle and candle tart has a piece of jewelry inside. We like watching when Annette gets the jewelry out after she’s burned her candles. They’re all so pretty and shiny; we’d love to bat those things around the house but of course she keeps us from doing that.

Anyway, I guess that’s my rant for now. Well have our paws crossed that if we DO move it won’t be far, they move our kitty towers too and they leave the dogs behind! Ha ha! We’re sure they’ll be moving with us. Annette and Don love them too much. Have a great day all you humans!

It's a New Year!

“All three of us want to wish you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!”

“We’ve had a wonderful, if not challenging 2014 and look forward to a wonderful 2015. We think mom and dad are getting rid of the Chinchillas.” “That’s right Keaton. They’ve slowly been disappearing along with the cages.” “I think Levon and I will miss them.” “Not me. I couldn’t care less. I just wish Roscoe would find a new home!” “Oh get over it Jazz! He’s a wimp! He tried pinning me in the bath tub the other night. That didn’t happen!” “Shut up Levon! You know I don’t like that big oaf. Meow!”

“Mom seems to be really working on her candle business and I heard dad say that with the Chins gone, they’ll have more room for that.” “Yeah Keaton, there seems to be new stock arriving every week lately.” “I miss the little Christmas tree she had.” “I know Jazzy, I liked knocking the little ornaments and rings off and onto the floor too.” “You two are trouble makers!” “Oh right Levon! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!” “Hey! What’re you guys up to?” “Shh, dad’s getting upset.”

“Do you know what else I’ve overheard?” “What Jazz?” “I’ve heard mom tell Don about more events coming up.” “Oh?” “You know what that means, right Levon? It means they’ll be leaving us alone more often.” “Well at least they’ll be leaving us with Bristol. She’s a good dog. She’ll protect us.” “Harrumph!” “Jazz is right Keaton. Bristol always watches the house.” “I do okay all by myself.”

“Dad’s been talking about more promoting too. I think he’s planning on ordering stock of his novel too.” “What does he want to do that for?” “He wants to go to the same events mom’s planning on and do book signings.” “Oh he does?” “That’s what he’s been saying.” “I think that would be quite cool.” “You would Keaton! You always try to sound hip and so, so cerebral.” “Maybe it’s because I’m the coolest cat here.” “Put a sock in it Keaton.” “Keaton has a point. Putting yourself out there, with your own book, is kind of cool. Maybe we could come up with our own book?” “I don’t think so Jazz. We’d all want to be the author.” “Good point Levon.” “Thank you Keats.” “Keats?” “Hah ha! Gotcha!”

“Listen. Why don’t we let these good folks go on with their lives and do whatever it is that they do when they’re not reading our blog?” “Yeah, you’re right.” “From all of us, to all of you, we hope you have a healthy, prosperous and fulfilling 2015! We’ll see you again soon!” #Bengals #petCats #ILOVEBengals #candles #books #EARTG

Christmas Time

Tonight is Christmas Eve! First of all I want you all to know how grateful Levon, Jazzy and I are for having loving owners that came to our rescue and now provide us with a wonderful home and good care. If you have a pet, please take good care of him, her, or them. We’re living in your world and most likely couldn’t survive in our own world if you just let us go. I also thank Levon and Jazzy for bringing me down a notch or two. You were right. I was being rather arrogant.

In this part of the country it’s been raining all day and it’s been cold. Thank goodness Annette is baking Christmas goodies. The oven helps keep the house warm. I hope you’re keeping warm wherever you are and if you’re getting moisture, I hope it’s in the form of snowfall. I wouldn’t want to play in it, but it sure is pretty to look at.

Are you having guests for the big day? I think that’s wonderful if you are. I know Annette and Don are going to enjoy their day with their children and grandchildren. The kids are grown enough that they don’t chase us all over anymore now. They really are pretty good kids. The three of us are hoping we’ll get a fresh batch of Catnip. We LOVE that stuff! Maybe the dogs will get some bones to chew on too. They love them and pretty much ignore us when they have them.

If you’re traveling for the holidays, please drive carefully. It’s scary enough for animals like us to be transported in pet carriers inside a vehicle. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in control of a car or truck, going down a highway. Ugh! So please be safe.

Well I know this is short but I’m also sure that you’re very busy baking, making early dinner preparations and wrapping presents. So have a good time with family. Meowy Christmas! From Levon, Jasmine and I. We’ll see you all again soon.

Oh I hear that JIC is introducing something brand new next year! Watch for it here. And don’t forget to get Dons first novel!

Shyness and Close Encounters

Hello cat lovers. I’m Jasmine, the female Snow Lynx Bengal. The three of us had a discussion recently and we all agreed that no one cat should be writing this blog all of the time. Even Keaton admitted that he was being selfish and maybe a little arrogant. So here goes.

I’m the only one of us that was not rescued, but purchased. I was born into a house with young children and paid little attention to. Let me correct that. I was paid lots of attention, but not necessarily good attention. That affected my behavior deeply. When I moved into my new home, my new owners didn’t quite know what to think about my behavior. They’d try to pet me and reach out to me, but every time I’d either shy away or run! It took Annette over a year for her to get me relaxed enough to let her pick me up. Today I even crawl into her lap, when I’m in the mood. I still rarely let Don touch me. They think that the man of the previous home had something to do with it. I’m not saying.

The point is all pets will react to how they’re treated. Bengals are quite high strung and reactive. It takes us a long time to get used to people and we require patience. We’re also more athletic and agile than your common house cat. We aren’t the breed of cat for everyone, so if you’re looking for a cat as a pet and have little patience I suggest you get a more common breed.

The other night I almost jumped out of my skin! Bristol, the female Bull Mastiff and I get along great! We even nuzzle each other. Roscoe, the male, is another story. Annette and Don have been letting him in the house over night. He’s kept in an indoor kennel. Usually when they let him in, we all jump to high places or go upstairs. It’s gated off. When our owners think we’re safe they’ll let him out for awhile. He always stalks around looking for us.

This particular night they went through the same routine. When Annette checked the house she didn’t realize that I was still downstairs on the bottom shelf of the entertainment center. When she let Roscoe out, he found me right away and trapped me. I was scared as a cat! LOL Luckily Annette picked me up and Don put him back. I don’t think they let him out for the rest of the night.

Here’s a little advice about pets in general. If you already have pets in the house and want a different kind of pet in the family, introduce them to each other, slowly. Let them realize that they both are part of the family and not to be harmed. That way, you’ll have a well balanced family and a home of contentment. Christmas is right around the corner. Order your scented candles now or download the new novel Borough Hall-Conversion. Have a great week! Jazzy #Bengals #petCats #ILOVEBengals #candles #books

It's December!

Hi, it’s me again, Keaton!

There’s a little bit of Christmas around here. My owner, Annette, has a candle display on the family heirloom buffet. It’s a real nice piece of furniture that is at least 55 years old. Anyway, she has some pretty nice display units on top of it, showcasing her Jewelry in Candles scented candles and tarts. Did you know that each one has a piece of jewelry hidden inside? I think that’s pretty neat for more than one reason.

Between the displays she has a fake Christmas tree that is about one foot tall. She’s got little ornaments hanging on it and a red ribbon and an angel hanging from the top. She hangs jewelry she’s gotten from her reveals on it too. Do you know what? All three of us, Levon, Jasmine and I like to jump on the buffet, knock the tree over, knock the ornaments and jewelry off and bat them around the house! LOL! It’s so much fun, until we get caught.

I remember when I was little and my previous owners used to put up a BIG tree in the house, and it was real! It smelled great and I used to climb up the branches and knock stuff down too! That was a blast! They weren’t quite as patient with me as Annette is. She just uses that ‘voice’ on me and picks the stuff back up. Bristol just watches us and lays her head back down. She can be so boring, but at least she doesn’t chase us around the house.

Well Jasmine is on the surround sound system and Levon is on a cabinet. I guess I’ll stake out my usual spot on the sofa. Hey, do you have a couple of minutes? Check out the following blogs and pages. I’m sure you’ll like them. Have a great day! Me.

Jasmine

Hello everyone. I’m Levon. Keaton thinks he runs this place but I only LET him think that. He seems to be on a high horse lately, what with keeping this blog up. So earlier, after we all ate and he took a nap, I took over the laptop! I know he was planning on telling you about Jasmine, our other Bengal pal, but I’ll tell you about her instead! LOL

Jasmine is a Snow Lynx Bengal. She’s very pretty too. That’s her and I in the picture above. When she first got here she was very shy and timid. It took her a whole year to get used to Annette. She’s still not totally comfortable with Don, but he’s still trying to work with her. You see, it takes longer for Bengals to become comfortable and friendly with people than it does with domestic cats. As far as the dogs go, she tolerates Bristol, but if Roscoe is in the house she vacates upstairs.

Also, when she first got here she was very small because she was still a kitten. Boy has she grown now! She may not eat as much as I do but she doesn’t miss out at all. She’s become quite an agile jumper too. She almost matches Keaton in that department. Keaton doesn’t have much to do with her but she and I often play together. We have a lot of fun chasing each other through the house, over the furniture and playing hide and pounce.

As I indicated earlier, the house we live in is two stories. The upper story consists of a bedroom and an attic (like another room) where the furnace is located. The bedroom has one large window. Our masters don’t use the room other than a little bit of storage. It has two mostly empty dressers and a cat tower. We love it up there because it’s always warm and we can sit on the cat tower and stare out the window. It has film over it so we can see out but no one can see in. That’s pretty cool huh?

Okay I have something funny to tell you. There’s a laundry basket kept in the bathroom. I often jump on it to get to the bathroom counter. Occasionally the lid swing up on me and I end up inside! Our owners always laugh and sometimes Annette gets me out but sometimes I like to just sit in there on the clothes pile.

The other day Keaton fell in! LOL He kept trying to use his paw to open the lid. So do you know what I did? I jumped on the basket! Unless Annette came to his rescue, there was no way he was getting out. He was SO frustrated! LOL I thought it was funny as heck! I’ll add a picture of it at the end of this post.

So that’s a little bit about Jasmine. I hope you enjoyed reading it. Maybe I’ll ‘take over’ again sometime. Meanwhile, why not stop by Dons other blog He’s an author and he has a sampling of his work there. You can also look up first novel here: Annette also has a blogspot: And you can find her candle business at this site. She's having a sale right now! Until next time have a great December!

Levon

Hi! It’s me, Keaton again. Last week I told you about myself and a little bit about Levon. If you remember, Levon is a Silver Bengal, that’s him in the picture. I hate to admit it, but he’s pretty darn good looking too. Sometimes he likes to play the ‘leave me alone’ game, but he’s a people lover! Usually, he can’t get enough attention. If you’re sitting down at the table, desk, or the sofa he’s right there rubbing up against you. And if you start stroking him, look out because he’ll just keep turning around and sticking his head against your hand! It’s disgusting if you ask me. If he were a celebrity he’d be a camera hog!

Oh, here’s another thing about him. If he thinks you’ve done something wrong, he’ll let you know about it! A few months ago, the dogs Bristol and Roscoe had a litter of puppies. Our masters couldn’t let the puppies stay outside, or even go outside at first. So they kept them inside, inside a huge wooden frame so they’d be contained. Here’s the problem; the room they were keep in was the room we only shared with the Chinchillas which isn’t a problem because they’re caged. But these puppies were whining constantly every time Bristol was away from them. And they defecated all the time. When they got big enough, they started getting out of their box. You can imagine the mess that created.

I tolerated it alright, but Levon sure didn’t. Mind you, that room was also where our litter box was located. So, in retaliation, Levon started doing his ‘business’ wherever he wanted to. That usually meant ‘going’ on the masters laid out clothing, furniture or even their bed! I’d just laugh and shake my head about it, but boy did that upset Annette. She threatened to let someone adopt him a few times. If you’re thinking about getting a cat, especially a hybrid breed like we are, remember, retaliation is quite common. You’ll have to keep a routine with us, and try not to change it. Cats will let you know they’re upset in one way or another and usually it’s in the form of something they know you won’t like.

Everything seems to be fine now though. All of the puppies have been adopted and the adult male is being trained to be inside the house without bothering us, although it is still only overnight and he’s in a kennel at bed time. Otherwise he’s kept outside in the fenced yard. I think that’s a good thing because that dog is hyper! Even though he doesn’t mean to bother us, I think he just wants to play, he’s freaking 100 pounds! He stalks us all the time he’s inside the house and not in his kennel. Thank goodness we’re all quick and can jump high!

Well the sun is out and shining in through the front window. That’s one of my favorite spots to sleep. I think I’ll go lie on the back of the sofa and let the sun warm me up. The next time I’ll tell you about Jasmine, the Snow Bengal. What a character she is! In the mean time take a look at Dons other blog, Royal Family Curse, and and Annettes blog, Annettes JIC
